Remarks by Consul General Mr. Ma Yaou at the Reception Marking the 64th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China
2013-09-27
H.E. Governor Sindh, Ishrat Ibad Khan,
H.E. Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah,
H.E. Speaker of Provincial Assembly Sindh, Agha Siraj Durrani,
Honorable Ministers and Consuls General,
Distinguished guests,
Dear Compatriots, ladies and gentlemen:

We are gathering here tonight to celebrate the 64th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. It is our great pleasure and honor to have H.E. Governor Sindh, H.E. Chief Minister Sindh and H.E. Speaker of Provincial Assembly Sindh to grace the occasion. I wish to extend my warm welcome to all guests for your presence today and my sincere gratitude to all friends for the consistent commitment to the China-Pakistan friendship.
First, on behalf of Consulate General of People's Republic of China in Karachi, I would like to express our deep sympathy and condolences over the severe loss of lives and properties caused by the strong earthquake in Balochistan on September 24th. I firmly believe that under the strong leadership of Pakistani government, the people of Pakistan will certainly overcome all difficulties and rebuild their homes. Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang have respectively sent messages of condolences to Pakistani leaders. The Chinese Government decided to provide to the Pakistani government emergency assistance of 1.5 million USD and goods with the value of 30 million Chinese Yuan for the earthquake rescue and relief work.

Ladies and gentlemen!
The new China has made tremendous achievements since its founding 64 years ago. The Chinese people are now closer than in any period in history to the bright prospect of the "Chinese Dream", which aims at accomplishing "a prosperous country, great renewal of the nation, and people's welfare and happiness". Though still confronted with all kinds of difficulties and challenges, we have confidence and ability to achieve greater progress in economic, political, social, cultural and ecological developments and fulfill the two centenary goals, that is, to complete the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects when the Communist Party of China celebrates its centenary, and to turn the country into a modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced and harmonious when the New China marks its centenary. Today, we are also presenting a photo exhibition of "beautiful China", hoping to share with you China's endeavors and outcomes.
The "Chinese dream" is closely connected with the prosperity of the world and with the "Asian tiger dream" of Pakistan. The "Chinese dream" will benefit not only the Chinese people but also people of the world. China vows to stand for peace, development, cooperation and mutual-benefit and to follow the path of peaceful development, striving for common progress with all countries of the world including Pakistan.
At present, the growth of friendly cooperation between China and Pakistan is embracing new opportunities. The blueprint of building the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, in particular, is of great significance and broad prospect. We are inspired to see that exchange and cooperation in various fields between China and provinces of Sindh and Balochistan are increasing in both width and depth. The two sides are having more frequent commerce and trade activities. Chinese enterprises, with the aim of mutual benefit and bringing benefits to locals, are increasing their projects of investment and cooperation in the two provinces, from Karachi, Thar and Badin in Sindh to Gwadar and Sandak in Balochistan , covering fields including energy, resources, infrastructure and finance. The people-to-people exchanges are also dynamic. Many Pakistani friends I have met go to China to pursue business, attend fairs and other exchange programs, further promoting mutual friendship in the meanwhile. The Chinese Confucius institute in Karachi University is about to open soon. Here I wish to reaffirm that the Consulate General will continue to work actively with friends from all walks of life in Sindh and Balochistan so as to translate our friendly cooperation into more tangible results.
Let's join our hands and make concerted efforts to push the strategic partnership of cooperation between China and Pakistan to a new high!
May both China and Pakistan be prosperous and their peoples happy!
China-Pakistan Dosti Zindabad!
Thank you.
